Accountant for foreign-owned sole traders and LLCs in Armenia
You have a business in Armenia or plan to open one, and the tax system is new to you. We keep the books, work out the taxes and explain it all in English or Russian.
- We keep the books of sole traders and LLCs owned by foreign citizens and relocants in Armenia, in English, Russian and Armenian.
- Software development cannot use the micro regime (Tax Code, article 267, part 5, point 2).
- On turnover tax, software development is taxed at 1%, a rate in force until 31 December 2031 (article 258, part 1, row 8).
- Monthly service for a sole trader costs from 20,000 AMD on the micro regime and from 25,000 AMD on turnover tax; for an LLC, from 45,000 AMD.
- All the bookkeeping runs online, so you do not need to be in Armenia for it.
This page is for people who moved to Armenia from another country, or who live abroad and run a sole trader or LLC here: relocants, freelancers, software developers and founders of small companies. Their clients are often abroad and the tax system is new to them. We keep the books, work out the taxes, file the returns and explain it all in a language you are comfortable with.
Which regime suits an IT specialist
The regime is the first decision, and it is where most of the confusion sits. There are three options.
Micro regime. The condition is turnover of up to 24 million AMD in the previous year (article 267, part 3). It is closed to developers: article 267, part 5, point 2 excludes software development, as well as information processing and consulting, advertising, design, marketing and translation services.
Turnover tax. The condition is turnover of up to 115 million AMD in the previous year (article 254, part 2). Activities on the Government's high-tech list pay 1% (article 258, part 1, row 8). Software development, code J62.01.0, is on that list (Government decision N 142-N), and the rate is in force until 31 December 2031. Other activity pays 10%. A sole trader on this regime pays profit tax as a flat 5,000 AMD a month (article 125, part 3). Legal, accounting and management consulting cannot use this regime (article 254, part 3, point 3.1).
General regime. Profit tax is 18% for an LLC and 23% for a sole trader (article 125, parts 1 and 3.1). This is where a business stays if the application is not filed on time.
The deadline that is easy to miss
A new business files its regime application within 20 days of registration, and an existing one by 20 February (article 254, part 1 and article 267, part 1). We check the activity code and the regime before registration, so that your income lands in the right row.
Clients abroad
The books are kept in drams, so we record receipts in dollars, euros or rubles in drams. The current Central Bank rate is on the exchange rates page of this site. A bank account opens only with the owner present: we prepare the bank and the documents in advance and go to the meeting with you.
Language and distance
The official documents are in Armenian; we explain what they say in English or Russian. We talk by messenger or email. The bookkeeping runs online, so you can live in another country. Where you pay tax as an individual is a separate question of tax residence, which we go through in a consultation.
What it costs
A sole trader on the micro regime with no employees starts at 20,000 AMD a month, and a sole trader on turnover tax at 25,000 AMD. If all of a sole trader's activity is IT on turnover tax, clients abroad do not change the price. An LLC where only the director works starts at 45,000 AMD, and an LLC with employees at 65,000 AMD, with the first employee included. Prices exclude VAT. The first meeting is free, including by video call. The price calculator shows the exact figure in two minutes.
The rules on this page were checked against the current text of the Tax Code on 5 November 2026.

Answers — up front
Can a foreigner own a sole trader or LLC in Armenia?
Yes: we also work with businesses of foreign citizens. You do not need Armenian citizenship for it, and if you want to relocate, we handle the residence permit based on the business.
Can an IT freelancer use the micro regime?
No, not if the activity is software development: article 267, part 5, point 2 excludes it. The same goes for information processing, design, marketing and translation. In those cases we usually look at turnover tax.
Is it true that IT pays 1% tax?
Yes, but only on turnover tax and only for activity on the Government's list. Software development is on it, and the rate is in force until 31 December 2031. Income outside the list is taxed at its own rate.
Do you work in English and Russian?
Yes: we work in Armenian, Russian and English. The official documents are in Armenian, and we explain what they say in your language.
Do I have to live in Armenia for you to keep my books?
No: we keep the books and file the returns online, and you sign with your e-signature. You need to come in person only to open the bank account.
